David Hilton for Bentley!

David Hilton, pictured below, has been appointed Head of Exterior design at Bentley in Crewe (down the road from my house). Paul Pires was the previous head of exterior design and with his reputation as a loyal and great designer, David has a tough job on his hands and a reputation to exceed. I believe that David is well equiped, especially from knowledge and experience perspective. He has a vast experience in working with Asian brands such as Hyundai-Kia, trucks for TATA, Design support for Mazda, McLaren, Nissan, not to mention the succesful exterior design for the 2007 Car of the Year S-MAX, whilst at Ford. I think that David will find Bentley a comforting experience. Bentley are a brand which very much focus's on the identity and traditional values which has built it's philosophy around luxury, elegance, power and indulgence. For David, this will be an experience very different from Asian companies due to the lack of freedom in design. I regularly have lectures with George Bowen, a Bentley senior interior designer. From his personality and expressions I realise how much pride he has in Bentley, and how much attention to detail is involved in the design process there. This is a perfect reflection of what Bentley are after, a design team which truly believes in the Bentley philosophy. After all when it comes to building a brand, a bloodline is a bloodline, and it helps if the natural line is a suitable line.
