The future of energy.....

According to zdnet.com, researchers at Berkeley have developed a new kind of anode polymer can absorb eight times the lithium of current designs. The contextual diagram shown explains the simplicity of the progression which has been made. Less molecules are gone to waste in the outcome of the lithium. Does this mean that heavy consumers of power will finally move away from fossil fuels? The answer for me is simply not yet. Vehicles, transport and coal stations are the most influential factors in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. The source of the resolution is surely the creation of power and the method in which it is produced, not the outcome in which we use it? A friend of mine is an Environmental studies student, and upon this same argument he stressed to me that oil companies and owners are buying out Hydro-Electric power stations due to the high competition. Tonight I have been scouring the Internet to find any supporting source to back up my friend's statement, however I couldn't find one (just like my friend said i wouldn't), but I did find an interesting statement from the Guardian: from http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/mar/17/royaldutchshell-energy. Like most fuel companies, in order to focus on reducing carbon, millions has to be spent on closing down stations and putting strategies together to resolve carbon emissions, and quite frankly I think the decision makers are too selfish to do that right now. Protesters from 'no-tar-sand.org' released a video expressing their emotions to this matter at the recent Canada-Europe Energy meeting through a medium of sexual imagery, which I found highly amusing and would URGE you to watch: http://vimeo.com/30373841. I think that with the issue of honesty and trust all over the planet, we can only guess and inform our opinions stronger as to what is really happening, unless we already know.
