Volvo P1800 (re-born)

The legendary Volvo P1800 has been revived by the Volvo design team. My first point to make is that the original P1800 expresses multicultural symbolism. The chrome, rather Mercedes looking alloys (american), the flame surfaced body and Maserati looking grille'(Italian) and the rather aristocratic, British colour shade. I think that these attributes have almost been transferred completely. However, although modernising the P1800 is evidently very well done, I think that the over all vehicle is confusing in the sense of continuity through aesthetics and form. The front-side view in red emphasises the weight of the car through the small area of the grille and dynamic wheel stance. The rear-side view expresses a some what more elegance through linearity and horizontal lines. I personally think that the rear-side view is a more production worthy, better clarified view. If the front-side encapsulated a similar philosophy as the rear, I think that as a concept it would be a lot more successful.

Volvo have recently been struggling to build brand identity, and the best way to do this is to clarify designs, help people understand and not to confuse people. I should really find some people to comment on this post. - and I will. Watch this space.
