Could scientists reverse global warming?

'A group of scientists, philosophers and legal scholars are looking into radical geoengineering plans to artificially cool the Earth in a bid to reverse global warning.
A U.N. climate conference in South Africa on Friday said that - in theory - reflecting a small amount of sunlight back into space before it strikes the Earth's surface would have an immediate and dramatic effect.
Within a few years, global temperatures could return to levels of 250 years ago, before the industrial revolution began dumping carbon dioxide into the air, trapping heat and causing temperatures to rise.'

Here is what I think.......

Do you think that the possibility of this happening soon is ridiculous? Think that if the statement is true, and it only takes a few years to actually combat the global rising temperatures then surely there is no point in risking this idea unless temperatures start to question our survival and well being to a huge extent? Well you are selfish if that is what you think. This technology could be used to conquer drought, bring optimum temperatures around the globe, saving peoples' lives which are taken through climate change everyday.
